Suit Vault recently had Australian champion jockey Willie Pike in the showroom selecting a handful of made-to-measure suits in preparation for the upcoming Spring Racing Carnival.

We thought it would be great to detail with you Willi’s suit selection for the season and also some style tips on how to wear different colours when heading out to your next event.

Like all clients who choose made-to-measure with SV, we sat down with Pikey in our Subiaco showroom and discussed with him how we can help create the perfect tailored suits that fill the gap he currently has in his closest.

We started chatting about what suits he has owned in the past and for which events he usually wears a suit too. Willie had actually brought in an old navy pin stripe suit that he had loved the fabric of and was hoping that we could replicate this in a new tailored piece – which we could easily accommodate!

Willie was wanting three suits to be used for upcoming television appearances, corporate functions and suits that can also be worn with chinos or trousers for the odd day out at the races and more informal occasions.

The Navy Pinstripe Suit

Willie was extremely impressed that we were able to match his old tailored suit from Hong Kong! We even added some flare with our revised version by adding a bold paisley lining throughout to give it some edge.

A way of mixing up the pinstripe look is can be with a fresh pair of white sneakers, giving it a modern edge. Given the dark tone of the fabric the option of wearing this style with black or brown shoes is there too – neutral buttons were selected to assist Willie in the versatility of shoe and accessory options that he would like to pair with on the day.

The Grey Suit

Grey suits can be easily dressed up or down by adjusting what accessories are being paired. A coloured tie be It burgundy or pink and a sky blue or pink shirt easily adds some personality to the look. You can also add a formal look to grey and dress it down by pairing a black tie and black shoes.

The Navy Suit

Willie chose a navy suit that could easily be paired with chinos and dressed down for other occasions in the future such as relaxed race day functions. With Navy suits you can dress up this look by adding a paisley bold tie or even coloured shirt to show some personality.

After his Suit Vault Experience, we asked what Willie thought of the process and any special comments he had about the suits!

“I found the experience very easy and straightforward. I don’t have my finger on the pulse regarding fashion. Jarred listened to what I wanted and helped me choose designs / colours which look and fit great. I will be wearing all the suits to the races. Hopefully, I will be able to wear them to another successful spring carnival!”Willie Pike

Creating personalised tailored suits is what we do day in and day out, let our team at Suit Vault create the perfect piece for your next day out at the races, wedding or special occasion.
