School Ball Season Is Here
School ball season is once again around the corner and At Suit Vault we take great pride in suiting up the next generation of gentlemen for their School Balls.
Typically, a school ball is the first time a young gent will wear a suit in his life, we make sure that when he does come in for a fitting that he feels extremely comfortable. In the suit fitting we will guide him on the plethora of menswear options available to him to wear to his school ball, our passion is menswear and making sure all our clients look and feel great when attending something special like a school ball on their social calendar.
When it comes to what to wear to a school ball there is no hard and fast rule, gents have options such as black tie, cocktail or even smart casual. It all comes down to what the school firstly as requested them to be in for the occasion, the location of the school ball but also what their ball date has planned on wearing. In the appointment we chat about all of the above ensuring we nail the perfect look.
Let’s look at some of the more popular school ball suit styles that have been worn by clients recently here at Suit Vault.
Cocktail
Cocktail attire is a popular modern look these days. This suit style can be captured be wearing a navy, grey or even miss match look suit (Jacket & Trousers being separate colours). You can see here with this gent; he’s chosen to wear a miss match style. You are able to achieve this look by wearing a different colour of suit on top and on bottom, seen here with navy jacket and black trousers. This type of men’s style allows the jacket to stand out and while also adding some personality to the look.
Another play on cocktail attire is wearing a blue velvet jacket with a satin black lapel, this look is a bit of a twist between cocktail and black tie. Also, in the shot is a gent lad is wearing a dark navy slim fit suit. This style is a popular selection for a cocktail dress code as it will work well with most dress colours – a safe bet!
Smart casual
Some boys these days love to show a bit of creativity and character through their suit selection. At Suit Vault we have a huge variety of bright coloured jackets, blazers with patterns and checks. Along with these styles we have checked trousers and light colours chinos to pair with these jackets allowing you to mix and match your look. Seen here is a young gent wearing a colourful burgundy jacket with a fun pocket square.
Let us suit you up in something different, allowing us to showcase your personality all the while ensuring we work this suit style with your dates dress.
Black tie
Certain schools request their guests to wear black tie to their school ball, we have a lot of different options of black tie styles for school balls. The two most popular options are; Tuxedo – A Tuxedo is typically worn with a black bow tie and black jacket and trousers along with a crisp white shirt. The rule with this style is that a black bow tie must be worn, a tie is traditionally not selected when choosing to wear a Tuxedo jacket with a satin lapel.
Black Suit
Black suit is a less formal version of black tie, typically you would wear a black tie with this look over a bow tie to dress this down, to add some colour to this look you could throw in a bright pocket square or tie.
We have been suiting up gents for their school balls for years now, we take pride in educating them on menswear and how to wear a suit right. Our suits are all modern, slim fit suits and we have our very own Suit Vault label where gents can hire a one-off piece and know it can not be found on another guest at his ball – making sure he is the stand out.
